10. Really Big Babies

The majority of babies are born weighing from 5.5 to 10 pounds, but there have been some really big newborn babies. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, in September 1955 a baby boy was born to Sig. Carmelina Fedele of Italy who tipped the scales at 22 pounds 8 ounces. More recently, a California woman, Sosefina Tagalu gave birth to a 16 pound baby in 2013. The baby named Sammy was the largest baby ever to be born in the state.

Are you jealous you weren’t blessed with a super-sized baby? Don’t be. Sammy’s mother gained a total of 110 pounds during this pregnancy and her infant could not fit into the tiny diapers supplied by the hospital. California was also the birth state of another super-sized baby boy, Andrew Jacob Cervantez who weighed in at 15 pounds 2 ounces when he was born in January of 2014. The most amazing thing about ths birth was that her baby was already nearly half her size when he came into this world. She was a mere 5 feet 1 inch tall.
